Accommodation
Where is the lobby located?
Our lobby is located inside Shinagawa East Tower One Building on the 26th floor. Please use our dedicated hotel elevator.
What is the supplement fee for an extra bed or crib?
- Extra beds are available for the following room types: 2 Twin Premium Bath Shower Combination, 2 Twin Beds Premium, and 1 King Bed Premium with JPY5,000 per night (tax & service charge included).
- For Club rooms and suites with lounge access, extra beds are available at JPY17,000 per night (extra bed fee of JPY5,000 and Club InterContinental Lounge access fee of JPY12,000 included).
- Children are welcome in the Club InterContinental Lounge. Depending on the age of the children, the following access fee will be charged (including tax and service charge);
- 3 years old and under free of charge
- 4 years to 6 years JPY5,000 per night
- 7 to 12 years old JPY8,000 per night
- Cribs are available for complimentary use during your stay for children 24 months or under. Please request upon making your reservation. Please note that the number of available extra beds and cribs is limited. Children aged 12 years old or younger can also sleep sharing an existing bed.
Do I need an extra bed for my child?
Children under 12 years old may use the same bed as the parent for no additional cost. However, an additional fee will be charged for the children’s breakfast for guests with breakfast included in their stay.
For guests staying in the room with Club InterContinental access
Children are welcome in the Club InterContinental Lounge. Depending on the age of the children, the following access fee will be charged (including tax and service charge);
- 3 years old and younger free of charge
- 4 years to 6 years JPY5,000 per night
- 7 to 12 years old JPY8,000 per night
Is it possible to stay in the next room to my colleague?
If your room type is a double type it is possible, Due to the hotel's floor layout this request is not possible with twin room type. We can accomodate requests that are for the same floor. Please request upon making your reservation.
Do you have interconnecting rooms?
There are no interconnecting rooms.
Are there accessible rooms?
Yes. At The Strings by InterContinental Tokyo we aim to ensure all our guests have comfortable facilities and have two accessible rooms available upon request. (subject to availability)
Am I able to stay with my guide dog?
Yes. Please inform the reservation agent upon making your reservation.
Can you request a room with Tokyo Tower/Skyscraper city view?
Please make all requests upon making your reservation. Please note that room view requests are not guaranteed and subject to daily availability.
Can I request for a smoking or non-smoking room?
Following the recent changes in travel styles and from the feedback we have received from our special hotel guests and frequent travelers, as of 01 April 2018 The Strings By InterContinental Tokyo is proud to announce that all of its 206 Accommodation rooms will convert to non-smoking.
Is it possible to assign my room number.
No. Rooms are assigned based on type and availability.
Is there internet available in the room?
Yes. We provide complimentary high-speed internet access (wired & wireless) in all guest rooms and throughout the entire hotel.
Is it possible to hold my luggage before check in / after check out?
Yes. Please request to our guest services team.
Is it possible to store my luggage prior to check in?

Do you offer home delivery service? Also, can you provide boxes?
Our Guest Services include assistance for home delivery services. Boxes are also available at a charge.
Is it possible to check in late in the evening?
Yes. For guests arriving after 10:00 p.m. please contact our guest services team.
Is late check out possible?
Late check out may be arranged under the following terms: 30% of the daily room rate until 3:00 p.m. 50% until 6:00 p.m. Any time after 6 :00 p.m. will be charged at 100% of the daily room rate.
Until when may I cancel my reservation? Is there a cancellation fee?
Please cancel 24 hours prior to stay to avoid 1 night penalty. Cancellation of this reservation is subject to the hotel's cancelation policy. Please note that for group reservations the policy is subject to each group's accomodation contract.
Is there a fitness center?
Guests can use the fitness center free of charge 24 hours a day. Our Fitness Room guests must be over 16 years of age.
During my stay I would like to hold a meeting with outside clients. How can I arrange this?
For security purposes all people who are not registered may not enter guest rooms. For meetings please use our restaurants or alternatively our meeting rooms.
Is there an ATM for international cards close by?
Yes. Located on the 2nd floor of the hotel is a convenience store (Seven Eleven) with ATM facilities.
Where is the closest Post office?
The closet post office is located across the street from the hotel in the Shinagawa InterCity Building B Level 1.
Can you arrange Narita Express or Shinkansen (bullet train) Tickets?
Yes. Our concierge will be able to assist you with any ticket requirements.
Is the limousine bus limited to reserved seating?
You must reserve your seats for the limousine bus. Guests Services located on the 26F can assist with all reservations.
Dining
Can I smoke in the restaurant?
It is possible at Private Rooms of Chinese Restaurant 'China Shadow. Otherwise, there is a designated smoking room available on the 26th Floor.
Is it necessary to make a reservation for the restaurant?
Reservations are not required for any of the restaurants, but advance reservations are recommended as some restaurants may not be able to accommodate guests due to capacity. Reservations are not accepted for Tea Time and Bar Time, with the exception of afternoon tea sets and parfait orders.
I would like to use the hotel restaurant. Is parking free?
2 hours will be validated for purchases over 5,000 JPY and 4 hours for purchases over 10,000 JPY. Please validate your ticket upon settling your bill.
I will be celebrating an anniversary. Can the hotel arrange something special?
Yes. We can arrange a dessert plate with a message. Please inform the reservation agent upon making your reservation.
Can you arrange cakes, flowers etc?
Yes. Cake and flowers must be arranged 3 days prior to reservation.
Is there a dress code?
Yes. Smart Casual. We request for guests to refrain from wearing T-shirts, Shorts and sandals.
Are children welcome at the restaurants?
Yes. We can arrange a high chair for children. Please inform the reservation agent upon making your reservation.
Is there a children’s menu?
Yes. There is a children’s menu for both China Shadow and The Dining Room.

How do I acquire points?
Please present your IHG Rewards Club card upon check-in.
How do I transfer my points to miles?
Pre-registration is required before your proposed stay.
Can I earn points at restaurants?
Yes, you can earn 1 IHG® One Rewards base point per eligible 100 Japanese yen (tax incl.) spent. To accrue miles is also possible but members must pre-registered and request for miles upon payment.

Is there Wi-Fi in the restaurant and Lobby?
The lobby and restaurant areas provide complimentary Wi-Fi. For login details please inquire to our staff.
Is it possible to connect to a VPN from the guest rooms?
Yes. However depending on the computers settings there are cases where it will not connect.
